Guest guest
All the times we've discussed brekkies on the list and nobody has recommended this blast from my childhood, so here it is. The down side is that it isn't portable but you can have it cooked and down the hatch in like 5 minutes. Cream of Wheat, AKA Farina I love this stuff and have recently discovered that if I put in a bunch of sugar free vanilla syrup it is sweet and vanilla and nummies in the tummies and filling and and and...really really love this stuff. They have instant cream of wheat in packets now but they've made it more modern and added fiber (cardboard, I think). It is nasty. The old fashioned stuff in a box cooks in two and a half minutes. You can cook it with water or milk or soy milk or rice milk. I tried using the vanilla flavored rice milk this morning and with a splash of the DaVinci sugar free vanilla syrup it was divine. This isn't medical advice, just what is actually working for me, but this stuff will go down and stay down even when my ticky gut is bleeding. I also will make a small serving to eat before bed. Sometimes I'll throw in a couple of peach slices diced up. One box makes a bunch of servings. I store it in the fridge but an air tight container would work as well if you're worried about those little mealy bugs that get into flour sometimes. The box instructions say to bring water or milk to a boil then add the Cream of Wheat but unless you're whisking it wildly when adding the COW, it can lump like mad. I add it to my water or mix of milk and water before bringing it to a boil. Wheat intolerant folks might like the rice cereal found in the baby section of the grocery store. If you don't like oatmeal, you might like this stuff. Jeanne in GA PS: OMG OMG OMG I just saw a snowflake! Two flakes in Southwest GA constitute a flurry. Three flakes are a blizzard. They closed school here last night just on the threat of snow.
