Guest guest
I prefer my mashed potatoes lumpy as long as the lumps are potatoes .. In a message dated 2/14/2010 1:47:33 P.M. I told him that I tried not to have lumps. He then worked his magic and got most of the lumps out. Somehow, I don't mind the lumps at all,but my dad is set in his ways... _@vegetarian_gveg_ ( ) , " Sarah Navarro " <navarrosarah@nav> wrote: > > That reminds me of when I was a little girl and went to visit my Grandma who > I didn't get to see very often. Guest guest
Personally, I don't mind a few lumps in mashed potatoes but since I most of the time I whip/mash potatoes either in my Bosch Universal mixer or in one of my old vintage Sunbeam mixers, they come out REAL smooth. I also like to cook the potatoes with most of the jackets on them.....they still mash real smooth in a mixer. If I am in a real hurry though, I just drain them, put them back in the deep saucepan that I cook them in, add the butter, sour cream, a little milk and then mash them with an old potato masher....at the end I add a raw egg and beat like crazy.....taste is the most important thing in mashed potatoes. I started adding an egg years ago when one of my daughters was such a picky eater and this was one of my sneaky ways to get a little protein into her. Nancy C. Guest guest
I always loved lumps in my potatoes, and then my grandmother came and lived with us. She made the best mashed potatoes--no lumps, and they melted in your mouth like ice cream. I can go either way now. I just love mashed potatoes.
