Guest guest Posted March 1, 2010 Report Share Posted March 1, 2010 Shaker Stewed Tomatoes Ingredients 1 qt. tomatoes 1/2 cup light cream or rich milk 1 tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/4 cup cracker crumbs 1 tbsp. butter or margarine Directions Heat tomatoes. Add cream and baking soda. Allow to simmer several minutes. Add cracker crumbs. Simmer until cracker crumbs have swelled. Add sugar and salt to taste. Just before serving, add butter; allow to melt.
