Yay for veg fast food!

I was visiting with a new acquaintance yesterday and happened to mention

that I was a vegetarian (not something I usually tell people when I meet

them, but this just came up) She was a strict vegetarian for 3 years -- for

the same reasons I am, but will now occasionally eat a fast food hamburger

just because it is more convenient than a salad in the car. I said hey,

Burger King has a great veggie burger. She didn't know that, was thrilled,

and asked me where the nearest Burger King was (I know all of them near

where I live and work!)

We are so lucky to have a few convenient options for when we are pressed for

time and starving -- and wherever we happen to be traveling. Burger King,

Taco Bell, and Subway deserve our patronage!

:( It was my understanding that they should all have the veggie burger, even

if it's not on the menu. That's a shame!

Whatever they use...it is the burger that has mushrooms in it...because I have

asked and they actually read it to me from the label ingredients...unless they

have changed recently?? That would be good news to me.

The ones where I've eaten have Morningstar Farms veggie-burgers, and I think

it's listed somewhere (on the menu-board or something like that).  They've

mostly been good, though I had one in the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport that was

pretty good.  I also had one on the Chicago-L.A. Amtrak in their dining car--it

was DRRRRY!  (I am sure they over-cooked it, but at least it was available!)

It's nice that a few fast-food places have these items added to their menus!  I

am NOT a fan of the " bun-with-lettuce and nothing else " kind of " veggie

sandwich " --sorry!  If they can't put at least some cheese or a veg patty on it,

forget it!  I'll have a salad only or go somewhere else!  (Truly, I wish they

all offered Quorn stuff!)

Here's to better eating, even at fast food emporiums!

the ones ive eaten at have been morningstars too...its AWESOME that they have a

veggie pattie, but the next step is keeping them from getting freezer burn lol

(prolly why yours was so dry, the ones ive had are always hard as rocks)...if

you order a whopper/jr without the meat they only charge you like 80 cents (they

are the only restaurant that i know of that gives you a price break like that

for leaving the meat off of something), and it tastes a lot better than the

patty...and they usually have a bunch of stuff on the whopper/jr, enough to make

it a full sandwich to me anyways lol...

You're right, actually. If you look at the Morningstar Farms Web

site, they do contain mushrooms. In fact, It's the first ingredient listed.

I prefer the veggie patty. I've only had it overcooked once -- but that was

not good!
