I was really sad when Larabars were withdrawn from sale here in the UK.

Fortunately another company has jumped in to fill the gap.

http://www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk/store/new-products/default.aspx They make 4

larabar-type Nakd bars which are certainly very edible, although limited to only

cashew cookie, pecan pie, gingerbread and cocoa orange flavours. I decided to

have a go at making my own. As I had no orange extract or oranges, I decided to

start out with a cocoa lemon version. These are truly yummy. Enjoy.

Christie

1 cup cashew nuts

1 cup dates

1/2 cup filled almost to the top with sultanas (golden raisins) and then topped

up with cocoa powder

1/2 tsp lemon extract

juice of half a lemon

Pulse the cashew nuts and dates in a food processor until finely chopped. Add

remaining ingreddients and puse some more until mixture starts coming together.

Then either take teaspoonfuls and roll into balls between your palms or press

into a small baking tray and then cut into pieces or press into chocolate

moulds.

These sound just wonderful, Christie--Thank you! Sorry to hear about

Larabars disappearing. That would make me very sad.

I have a recipe (not my own) for a round candy that tastes very much

like the cherry pie Larabar. If anyone wants it, just holler :)

Peace,

Mo

It was a very sad day when I discovered that Larabars had disappeared from the

shelves here. I have no idea why they were withdrawn unless it was over the

peanut butter salmonella problems last year. Still, the good thing is that it

forces us to be more inventive ourselves!

I would love the cherry pie larabar-look-alike recipe please Mo.

I love Larabars! Why were they withdrawn?

Your substitute sounds great, will try it soon.

This looks great, Christie - I've recently become addicted to Larabars, and

lemon and cherry pie are my favorites! Although we can still get them in the

states, I think they are kind of expensive.

I want Mo's recipe, too!!!
