Guest guest
The sesame oil bottle doesn't say to put it in the fridge, and normally I wouldn't (I don't put any oils in the fridge) but a friend mentioned that he thought sesame oil goes rancid extra quickly, so refrigeration is necessary... thoughts? Thanks! Audrey

Guest guest
I keep all my oils in the fridge as I've had many of them go bad. It's a real bummer keeping the olive oil in the fridge because it solidifies, and I always forget to take it out in time to liquefy when I'm cooking. Guest guest
I don't think you need to refrigerate it, but I do it anyway since it doesn't solidify or change the taste. Guest guest
Hi Donna, Reading this thread I thought people were discussing cold pressed sesame oil ,which I love and isn't prone to rancidity. I used to make my own soaps, body creams etc and sesame oil (IMHO) made a great body lotion. Virginia West Aussie > A teeny bit of that oil sure goes a long way. It's so strong > isn't it? Guest guest
Hi Audrey, It is my understanding that sesame oil is not prone to rancidity found this at http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-sesame-oil.htm " Sesame oil has a lot of antioxidants in it, meaning that it doesn’t go rancid as easily as other oils. Light sesame oil can be used to cook with, and, because of its high smoke point, is used in deep frying. Toasted sesame oil, because of its lower smoke point, is not usually used in cooking. Since its flavor deteriorates when it is overheated, it is better suited as a condiment to add flavor to dishes.
