Who knows where the grit came from in the one you tasted, not all recipes are good and not all people making food from good recipes know what they're doing. I have given my recipes to people and tasted what they've made off my recipes and was in shock, many people don't use measuring spoons, guess at cups sizes, substitute ingredients, don't cream wet ingredients, don't blend the dry ingredients together before adding to the creamed mixture, don't preheat the oven or their oven temp is off, etc. There are many factors.
