Guest guest
I had a Chatty Cathy doll as a kid and really adored it. (They only talked, didn't actually " walk " , tho.) I found out pretty early, however, that the " talking " mechanism in the dolls wasn't very sturdy--my doll quit " talking " after a few months. First, we sent her back to the company for a new " talk-box " , then, later, THAT one broke, too. Instead of sending the doll away again, I just decided to play with the doll like a " regular " doll--imaginary " talking " instead. I think I played with that one doll for quite a long time after she quit being " chatty " and enjoyed all the pretend " parenting " that I did. My husband had a weird experience with a clown when we were first married. DH is a minister and was serving a small country church back then when, on a Sunday evening service, a " friend " of ours came to the church to " visit " . This " friend " came in FULL clown makeup, wig, and costume--down to the funny shoes and rubber nose! My husband says he'll never forget how WEIRD he felt looking at the congregation and seeing this guy in the back GRINNING like all silliness in his clown makeup and rainbow wig! (I wouldn't say I'm afraid of clowns, dolls or puppets, but I never watch horror movies for this reason--the clowns, puppets, weird dolls and such--gives me the heebie-jeebies!) (I'm so brave!--well, maybe...??) --Laura B., in Illinois Daughter did not like this doll and when we discovered Chatty Kathy in the closet walking and talking , daughter said " please mommie throw her away. " I did just that. Deanna in Colorado
