Guest guest
I had this at a BBQ years back and I want to make it. Does anyone know? It was a cold broccoli salad and it had those noodles from oodles of noodles packets in it, which gave it a nice crunch, it was slightly sweet and so good. anyone know? Guest guest
HI Chanda, Do any of these look like what you remembered. http://allrecipes.com/Search/Ingredients.aspx?WithTerm=Salad & SearchIn=All & Wanted\ 1=Broccoli & Wanted2=ramen+noodles You can use the Oriental Flavored ramen noodles and their flavor package is all vegetarian. Some of the above recipes don't use the seasoning package at all and the noodles without the seasoning package are all vegetarian. Let us know which one you choose and your review. I like the sounds of these recipes. Enjoy, Judy On Mar 27, 2010, at 11:50 PM, Puterwitch wrote: > I had this at a BBQ years back and I want to make it. > Does anyone know? > It was a cold broccoli salad and it had those noodles from oodles of > noodles packets in it, which gave it a nice crunch, it was slightly > sweet and so good. > anyone know? > > Blessings, > Chanda Maria > >
Guest guest
Thank you Judy! I am making it next week, this one is it, everything is the same only I am omitting the peanuts, as I liked it the way it was with just the sunflower seeds but no peanuts: Ingredients * 1 (16 ounce) package broccoli coleslaw mix * 2 (3 ounce) packages chicken flavored ramen noodles * 1 bunch green onions, chopped * 1 cup unsalted peanuts * 1 cup sunflower seeds * 1/2 cup white sugar * 1/4 cup vegetable oil * 1/3 cup cider vinegar Directions 1. In a large salad bowl, combine the slaw, broken noodles and green onions. 2. Whisk together the sugar, oil, vinegar and ramen seasoning packets. Pour over salad and toss to evenly coat. Refrigerate until chilled; top with peanuts and sunflower seeds before serving. Guest guest
I love broccoli salad!!!! I will have to make this as well. Judy, are all the Ramen noodles vegetarian? I stopped buying them a while ago because I thought they were not safe, but my kids LOVE them! I have also had this salad with bacon, before being vegetarian. Morning Star has a nice tasting bacon substitute you could add I suppose? I agree with the peanuts! Thanks for sharing! Shelley
Guest guest
I believe some of the flavors vegetarian but you have to be careful not to include this soup in your diet every day because it contains a lot of MSG. My opinion is putting it in the broccoli salad won't kill us, i just won't use it all the time. My kids eat it about once per month, the soup that is, so that is not a lot. blessings, Chanda On 3/28/2010 5:42 PM, HappyGoLuckyLilDucky wrote: > > I love broccoli salad!!!! Guest guest
Thank you Chanda. Like I said, I eliminated all from our eating lifestyle several months ago. They really aren't the healthiest foods on the market at all. But once in a while, they did enjoy them. I made so many different meals out of those soups. Amazing how versatile they are! lol Shelley - Puterwitch Monday, March 29, 2010 12:16 AM Re: [veg_grp] broccoli salad? Guest guest
What i used to do, and will start doing again (have to order the better than bouillon on line because stores don't carry the vegetable based) I would make my own broth to go with the ramen noodles and they loved it. THis puts a fire under my butt to order my better than bouillon and start doing it again. I just used soy sauce and better than bouillion vegetable base to make the broth, oh, and some garlic powder of course, and they loved it. My 12 year old said it tastes even better than the packet.
