Guest guest
Go to www.fieldroast.com Find a store locator near you. They make some nice hot and spicy sausages. Donna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
While I haven't yet seen it in the stores, I understand that Morningstar has come out with a spicy version of their breakfast sausage. I've never really found an Italian version that was passable other than the one Boca made which has been discontinued. If one knows what really good Italian sausage tastes like (even though I've been Veggie for many years, I still remember) all the others fall flat. JMO but I think Morningstar's Italian version is awful. TM
Guest guest
Oh wow Donna! Thank you for this suggestion! I went to the site because we are SO limited around here close by and the opening page alone made my mouth water!! I clicked on our state and was thrilled to see we have 3 near me! I will be going there as soon as I feel better. I have a killer ear infection or something going on. Spiking fevers of 102, nausea. All I know is this ear is really hurting. I am scared to death to go to the ER because walking in there will likely give me something much worse! Anyone know of a TNT home remedy? I may have to make an appointment and get this checked out, it really hurts. Anyway, thank you again!!!!!! These " meats " sound WONDERFUL!! Guest guest
Thank you Shelley! That is easily available and sounds perfect. I'll just add a bit of cayenne for some kick and it will probably be perfect. Thank you! Guest guest
Thank you, Donna. Unfortunately, they don't sell it close to me. Their closest reseller isn't too too far, but I'm not going to have the time to make a trip before Easter unfortunately. But, I think next time I am out in that area, I'll stop by the store and pick some up. Guest guest
So far, the best tasting one I've tried is Lightlife Smart Sausage Italian Style. Tastes a lot like the real thing and its a bit spicy. Yummo! Megan In a message dated 3/28/2010 5:41:00 P.M. I've tried the Morningstar sausage before and it was just ok. I'd like something that mimics a spicy Italian sausage. Is there anything good out there? Thank you!!! Guest guest
Yeah, the Morningstar one I tried was pretty awful. It shocked me that it fooled some of the carnivores I fed it to. Or, maybe they were just being kind. I'm looking forward to trying the Tofurkey one, but I know I will have to doctor it to give it some kick. But, as long as the texture is good, the rest is fixable. Guest guest
I will have to try the Field Roast sausages again. I really don't care for either Morningstar's or Boca's sausages. Of course, I never liked plain old breakfast sausage much. I did like Italian sausage, though... If you try Field Roast's Italian sausage first, TM, you let me know how you like it! Guest guest
You are so very welcome Pam! I think it will be perfect too! Sorry so late getting back to everyone, I went to sleep. Woke up better and now worse again. And today is my 37th birthday. Last year I was sick on my birthday too. Oh well, it's just another day! Have a blessed and wonderful day everyone! - Pam Araki Sunday, March 28, 2010 6:00 PM Re: [veg_grp] Who makes the best fake sausage? Thank you Shelley! That is easily available and sounds perfect. Guest guest
Would TVP work (maybe with added seasonings to mimic the Italian sausage?)? Jann

I've been experimenting with that, but it hasn't been very satisfactory so far. I'm more interested in using seitan, except that I'm about to start a gluten intolerance test where I won't eat wheat for at least 2 weeks to see if it helps some symptoms (They seemed to get much worse when I began my seitan adventure). I'll be so sad if I can't use seilan. I really like it even more than TVP.
