Silly question about Garbonzo beans

I just started trying to use less canned goods and I have dried garbanzo beans.

I soaked them and now I want to use them. I have sprouted some but do I have to

cook them? Are the beans that we buy in cans already cooked? I never really

thought about it.

Thanks, Patty

Yes, the canned ones are cooked.

I used to boil dried chick peas (garbanzos). I asked someone from Cedars why

their hummus was so much better than mine; he told me that they steam, not boil,

the chick peas. I now steam mine in my rice cooker.

Hi Robin,

Can you tell me how long they have to be steamed for. Thanks.
