I had to look up Catalonia - what a beautiful part of the world, with such interesting history! I had a Spanish teacher in college who was from Spain, though I can't remember which region. She spent some time teaching us about the different cultures in Spain, and I became interested in the Basques, and the mystery of where their language came from. This lady had a very pretty accent, so different than the accents of Central and South American teachers I had before and after. Catalan is the language of Catalonia, yet another romance language, as different from Spanish as French or Italian, but less 'different' than Basque.
