Guest guest
It's all about rennet. Â Check any cheese crackers you may buy for rennet. There's both animal and vegetable rennet, but it's not so hard to know which products are OK. There are many websites that list vegetarian cheeses. Here is one, though there are many more. http://cheese.joyousliving.com/ --- On Wed, 4/14/10, dragonfly4232000 <dragonfly4232000 wrote: dragonfly4232000 <dragonfly4232000 [veg_grp] Cheese " Vegitarian Group " Wednesday, April 14, 2010, 12:57 AM Â I know some cheese is not vegetarian. Guest guest
Hello Dragonfly, if you look at the list of ingrediants and spot the word " rennet " then it is not vegetarian, rennet comes from the lining of a cows stomach. Guest guest
Yes, there is vegetable based rennet now but years ago, the only rennet that was available was from the stomach lining of calves. Thank goodness someone came up with a substitute! Nancy C.
