Guest guest
Hi Nancy, I appreciate that reminder about oils, Flax oil will remain as a part of my supplementation regime. We do 2 TBS daily currently, because it is such a great source of so many things. Our challenge is helping to create a healthy BALANCED vegetarian option on this program. We volunteered because we have been vegetarians for so long, and our family has pre-teens, teen-agers and adults. We already work out 5 days a week as a family (3 days cardio, 2 day strength). We live in an area where obesity is rampant, even in young children, and there are many obese vegetarians that belong to our gym. They were interested in doing the program when it was announced, but the lack of guidance on how to successfully complete the dietary section put them off. Our family was asked if we would be willing to help out, and since we love a challenge- we said yes (plus we get to add one more day at the gym- Woo-hoo!). But I think your reminder really hit on some of the issues that face people trying to regain a healthy balance. So many times there is a blanket statement to cut out this or that from the diet without really understanding how vital an item may be to good health. The keys of course, being moderation and choosing the right varieties to accomplish your goals.
Guest guest
Hey Ande...... I think pretty much everyone lives, now-a-days, where obesity is rampant.....it is everywhere. I have always known that being a vegetarian is no guarantee against obesity. Even when I first became interested in vegetarianism, way back in the mid 1970's, not everyone I knew who was vegetarian was slim or even normal size....there were a number of vegetarians I knew who were definitely on the PLUS side. I personally think the world of video games, computers, and movies we can pop into our " players " , along with the scary world we live in today has contributed a lot to the over-whelming epidemic of obesity we see today in adults and children. It always worries me when I hear people talking about " getting rid of the fat " in their diet as there are many, many people today who don't know who fat works in the human body and the fact that we really do NEED some every day. I am glad you have a good nutritionist to help you out. Hang in there.....and have a super Saturday!! Nancy C. East Texas
