They look and taste just like black berries, but are smaller and grown on ground vines, where blackberries are bigger and grow on upright canes, when bloom about a month later. Guest guest
Been gone ALL day.....glad to be home. I didn't see the original post but I think I can answer this question for you. In Texas, we have patches of dewberries that grow wild on roadsides and here and there. We have a huge patch right across the road from our house and other patches around out property. A Texas dewberry is a wild blackberry. They tastes just about the same...not quite as sweet and not nearly as large as a domestic blackberry and there are more seeds because they are smaller. But, if you have a device or a small strainer to strain the seeds out, they make WONDERFUL blackberry jam or jelly and not too bad of a cobbler, if you don't mind the seeds. I have been picking them all of my life. Nancy C. A dewberry? I have never heard of these. What is it like?
