Guest guest Posted May 12, 2010 Report Share Posted May 12, 2010 Italian Green Tomato Casserole 2 1/2 pounds green tomatoes or very firm red tomatoes 1 teaspoon sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon dried thyme or 2 teaspoons fresh thyme 1 teaspoon dried basil or 2 teaspoons fresh basil 1/3 teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup italian bread crumbs 2 tablespoons butter Peel and slice tomatoes. In a greased 2-quart casserole layer tomatoes with seasonings divided between each layer. Top with bread crumbs and dot with butter. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serves 6-8.
