Guest guest
I don't go to Whole Foods often, mostly because I can do quite a bit of damage to my checking account in a short trip! I went last night and got out for less than $30, so I would say it was a success. I did not find marmite/vegemite, which was the reason for the trip, but... I did get a box of Sweet n Sara vegan marshmallows, which are really good, a really great small loaf of french bread, and some potatoes. Things I haven't tried yet: Nate's frozen Italian " meat " balls, Field Roast Mexican chipotle sausage, and Vegan Gourmet monterey jack cheese (flavor I haven't had yet - and Vegan Gourmet was on sale!) Feline Provocateur
Whole Foods isn't always the most expensive place to shop. For example, I like Kashi's vegan frozen meals (Mayan Harvest Bake is my favorite) and Whole Foods sells them for about $2 less than Kroger. Whole Foods also prices a lot of energy bars (Zone, Lara) cheaper than other grocery stores.
davidg
Hi Audrey! Just wanted to give a shout-out to Vegan Gourmet's monterey jack. My favorite vegan cheese! Next trip, you gotta pick one up. Great in quesadillos or wraps/burritos. And yes, Sweet n Sara is a real treat! Ymmm... Hare Krishna! - David
winstonsmith
I'm a vegetarian so it is a bit easier for me, but Kroger does have a lot of great options. You should also look at Amy's Marketplace meals. I believe they are vegan friendly, and they use non-GMO food. I buy them all the time, and they have so many options you never get tired of them. Of course, they are about $4.50 a meal, but I guess we should expect healthy stuff to be expensive.
