Guest guest
I like keeping instant food in the freezer (in addition to our food/storage preps) and before the vegetarian form of swine flu hit, I had made a large batch of veggie burgers (in the files here and stuck the patties in the freezer. All Carl had to do was heat up the skillet and toss the patties in, put it on bread or buns and add whatever. That part was fine. We help out two young families and we're always on the look out for foods they like on sale. Somehow our Sam's Club had either mismarked 4 large (5 pound) rolls of burger or something, for ,99 a pound. Carl grabbed them along with some other ugh stuff and brought it home for me to prep for the kids. (I know what they like, how they eat and live.) I mixed up 40 quarter pound burgers and formed them into burgers and put them in the freezer. The rest of the burger stuff was made into very meaty (ugh) spaghetti sauce and no bean chili. They had also marked one of the long pork tenderloins down to 1.50 so he picked that up too. I cut that into individual servings, lightly seasoned and packed with the Food Saver and tossed that into the freezer as well. I suspect since my hands broke out and itched horribly that I may be a little meat sensitive so it is a good reason to stay veggie. Now I know the right hand side of the freezer is for the kids, and the left hand is our veggie stuff. Carl should know that but he was probably tuned out when I told him. Soooooooo when one of the kids came by to ask Papa Carl how to do something on his lawnmower, Papa Carl knew enough to go into the kitchen and fill several bags and send them home with the kids, along with a little pocket change (he keeps about 10 in his pockets for times like this, lol). I got an email from the girl and she raved about the burgers and said they never would have thought to put beans and corn in the burgers and they " loved loved loved them " . Rut Roh, Shaggy. Wrong burgers. I'm debating telling her that they were veggie burgers since her sweet husband person is a meat and french fry kind of guy. I'll probably tell her the secret the next time they're over and swear her to secrecy. It must have gone over fairly well since they devoured 20 burgers in a week, along with the other things Carl packed for them. Heheh, veggie group rules!
