Guest guest
If you can get your hands on Bill Mollison's 4 part series, Global Gardener, DO. Part one is gardening in the tropics. It isn't your ordinary till the soil, lay out the crops in militarily regular rows, water, fertilize and so on. It's brilliant. He lays potatoes on the soil, covers them with layers of leaf mold or straw and walks away. The plants grow among the already growing trees, bushes and such and produces so much I am totally blown away. One part shows an Indian farmer's incredible crops. Once his land was hard, barely productive and totally raped, and now he lives among an incredible lush bounty. The next one shows how to grow in desert areas and it works. Unlike the gardens in the tropics, there is a bit more effort to grow in the desert but he shows how it can be done. I'm watching the next one - gardening in cold climates. After that, I'll watch the last, which is the Urban garden.
