Guest guest
I don't love or detest them but about 4 is all I need in half a stick of butter LOL Now they are very good grated and fried with, sliced cabbage onions, garlic and add some cooked diced potates and herbs at the end. Guest guest
I really do LIKE Brussels sprouts. I think they are one leafy vegetable that does NOT taste good if it is " crisp-tender " , however. The bitter part seems to mellow if it is cooked to a chewy, but not mushy state. But crisp-tender just seems a little bitter, still, to me. I like to slice thru the stem and cut the little sprout-heads lengthwise and then into narrower wedges--like tiny, tiny cabbage wedges. Then, I either steam them or stir-fry them. They're good mixed in with a melange of: chopped onion (green, white.yellow or red ones) and some sliced or diced red bell pepper...and maybe other things, like match-stick cut carrot pieces...I think my Brussels sprout-hating DH liked them that way. You can kind of roast them or brown then--just a little--in the oven or stir-fry pan or wok and the flavors blend nicely. I throw in some potato chunks with this and it is yummy! There is something nice and mellow when Brussels sprouts are nice and tender and...mmmm! Thinking of them makes me hungry! I gotta go! I didn't know this (where was I today?) My husband just now came home from being to a meeting out of town and went to the basement to hang up his suit jacket and found the room down there (which, thankfully, is a spare bedroom now) is FLOODED! We had heavy rains this afternoon, and this is the FIRST time in the more than 6 years we've lived here that this has EVER happened! I need to get in there and run the carpet machine on " suction only " and suck up the water!!! YUCK!! Peace and blessings to all! --Laura B., in Illinois
