And I believe in the U.K and Australia they call cookies as biscuits. My Gran

called baking soda as bicarbonate soda and my Swedish cookbooks often have it

worded the same.

My children's nanny and I were just talking about this. She is Philipino who

worked in Hong Kong so has the British influence. There are quite a few items

that we use different terms for. For example I call it a scallion whereas she

calls it a spring onion; zucchini versus courgette; eggplant versus aubergine;

etc. It's fun to learn different terms.

My Mom always called cottage cheese, " smearcase " and my father-in-law tell me to

make sure I painted the cake or painted the cookies, he was from Mexico and

referred to icing as painting.

My BlL calls waffles, mufflers lol.
