Guest guest
Oh Judy, that sounds delicious. Thank you for the history too. Maybe it tastes a little like polenta? Donna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
Ahhhh......once you put those chopped onions in the batter, when we make those in Texas, we call them " hush puppies " ....just make the batter a little thicker than for Hoe Cakes. I like to put both chopped Spanish onions and chopped green onions (green and white parts). Add some fried okra, a yellow squash casserole, and slice those tomatoes instead of chopping them and YUM!!, is the word! I love anything with cornmeal in it. Nancy C. Guest guest
We never called them that. hoecakes were flatten biscuit dough, so instead of rolling out biscuits you just bake it as a flat disc, have never heard of cornmeal hoecakes.
