Guest guest
http://www.edenalley.com/ - I have not been there yet, but I have heard from a couple of friends that it's great. It is on the Missouri side, on the Country Club Plaza, but not far from Johnson County. I have heard lots of good things about Jerusalem Cafe, also, but have not been there. If you want to take a short trip, 30 minutes to the south and west of Overland Park is Lawrence, Kansas -- home of the University of Kansas Jayhawks and a great little college town. Several restaurants there that are very vegetarian friendly. The Mad Greek is one of my favorites there. I've been told that Lawrence is like a miniature Boulder, Colorado (I've only been through Boulder on the way to Rocky Mountain National Park). Most people don't realize that Kansas City straddles the state line. Johnson County, Kansas (Overland Park, Leawood, Shawnee, Mission, Merriam, Olathe) always makes those lists of wealthiest counties. Lots of people live in Kansas and work in Missouri, or vice versa (drawback: having to pay income tax in both states!) Drive down the west side of State Line Road -- you're in Kansas; drive down the east side -- you're in Missouri. Kansas City is very much known for being a steak and barbecue city -- you will not find bbq tofu on the menu at any of the barbecue places (like my sister has noticed in Denver)! Guest guest
Hi, Thanks. I will try to check these out. Tofu in a bbq place in Kansas City? I know what some of my meat-eating relatives in Kansas and Oklahoma would say to that and/or what their reaction would be. And, knowing my relatives, it wouldn't be a subtle response. Oh wait, I don't visit much with my relatives . . . Guest guest
My sister had some rude things to say (to ME!) after she heard a stranger order the tofu at a bbq place in Denver! Hee hee! If friends or family want to eat at a fancy bbq place like Jack Stack (or even a steakhouse), I'm ok with that -- I can get a baked potato and a salad, or grilled vegetables. (And if you ever get stuck at Jack Stack, the grilled veggies are really worth it) Audrey On Fri, Sep 25, 2009 at 4:51 PM, Gary Mattingly <gsmattinglywrote: > > > Hi, > > Thanks.
