It's actually Rumaki not Rumiyaki.

You can styff the seeded date with an almond, ir slice the date upen and insert

some coconut,or make with drained pineapple chunks or waterchestnuts.

Not sure if it's Japanese or Hawaiian but it's been around a very long time.

The original version was made with a poultry item and bacon Yikes!

I have a friend who made an appetizer like this with dates instead of water

chestnuts. It was yummy. She just wrapped each date (seedless) with a half slice

of vegi bacon and baked it in the oven. No other ingredients. I don't know the

exact time.
