I am a mom and in my family of 4, I am the only vegetarian. My kids like

meat and my husband just thinks I'm going through a mid-life crisis. So far,

I have been cooking meat for them (it doesn't bother me - I just pretend I'm

a chef in a restaurant) and I have been having other stuff (there are plenty

of side dishes with vegetables on the table and I always have vegetarian

soup on hand). I would like to have some support so that's why I am glad I

found this group.

Hi Barbara - and welcome:) I feel the same way as my hubby thinks me eating tofu

is wierd. I did make him a dish though with some in it (I substituted 1/3 of

ground beef with tofu), and he didn't even notice (hehehe). I am not a full time

vegan but am pretty close - we are here to support you and share yummy

recipes with you on your new journey! You can also make a yummy frozen treat

with silken tofu in a blender with frozen mango - It comes out like ice cream

that is good for you (tricked hubby with this one too;)

I did the *trick the kids* thing 30 years ago and your email reminded me .

My son watched on tv about Rice a Roni and said " mom buy that please " . So I

experimented and gave them what they thought was the " San Francisco Treat.

Same with Granola. The children saw it at the store and wanted some so I made

ours . At that time there was no such thing as organic, etc. but they didn't

seem to notice.

They were always great veggie eaters.

I would set out a boul of raw veggies on the table while dinner was cooking .

And like all children they would be hungry and pestering for bites..I would say

" oh ok go ahead and have some raw veggies. "

LOL...

Life was and is just way too much fun.

I'm the only non meat eater, in a family of four, as well. My son thinks I'm

nuts, my mom thinks it'll pass. (My mom and step dad are older, and we all live

together, I do the cooking). My step dad doesn't think one can loose weight this

way. I've been in the gorup a couple of weeks,. or so. This is a good group.I

cook meat for my fmaily, and it doesn't bother me to cook mine along with

it.--Rhonda
