Guest guest
I have never ever microwaved one. I cut in half, scoop out the seeds and boil it until you run the fork across the half and see spaghetti strings. Girl we are going to ban you from your kitchen before you hurt yourself LOL I have a feeling you didn't poke the holes deep enough. You have to take a large long sharp serving fork and poke it deep down into the center of the squash many times, twist it too. Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 5:47 PM  I poked holes in a spaghetti squash, per instructions. Then put it in the microwave for 10 minutes. At 8 1/2 minutes, the darn thing blew up -- I mean, blew itself into 3 pieces and one of the larger pieces blew the microwave door open. So I had one chunk on the floor. Fortunately, no one was near at the time (unfortunately, as I found out, the dog does not care for spaghetti squash). This was the first time I've tried to cook spaghetti squash. Should I have poked more holes? Bigger holes? Both? Put it in the oven instead? Audrey
Guest guest
I usually cut the squash in half to microwave it. I also put it in one of those baked potato bags. It works great. I do the same thing for almost all winter squashes. Michelle in NV
Guest guest
I cut in half lengthwise, drizzle with olive oil and put on cookie sheet in oven :-)
Guest guest
Hey, look at that! 3 responses in 30 minutes, thanks -- love this group! Ugh, Donna -- made me glad I followed your advice and threw out two chipped corningware-type pieces. I definitely don't want that stuff blowing the microwave door open! Guest guest
And yes -- holes definitely not deep enough. I poked them with a regular fork. I've just had a really crummy track record lately, haven't I?? I just need to go to bed now...!
