It's fun to change and create food with new flavors. You can save money by *not* buying the pre-mixed packages that often contain MSG and other chemical preservatives. They also are often high in salt and sugar. *Organic* spices and herbs cost a little more but last for many meals ,compared to the one time expence of prepared packaged mixes. And YES use the smoked paprika in your chili. It is delicious. You also might want to try growing inside or outside, some of your favorites .
