Guest guest
Thanks! I went through the recipes, but still can't find something. For thanksgiving I would like to make pecan pie thats vegan but haven't found a recipe yet oh and sugar cookies. I had some simple recipes for vegan cookies without baking power or baking soda but can't find them anywhere. We are planning on making lemon, chocolate, chocolate chip, orange and maybe oatmeal cookies and decorate them. Yeah we love sweets, but we try to limit how many we have throughout the year. But hey its thanksgiving. Carol , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > Welcome to the group.

Guest guest
I know that you can make oatmeal and just drop it on parchment covered cookie sheets in cookie size blobs and bake them, and they make great cookies. I don't know temp or how long to cook - I just read about doing this. You can experiment. Annie PS What is wrong with using baking soda or baking powder? Have I missed something about them? - koolveg Sunday, November 22, 2009 8:38 PM [veg_grp] Re: Hello Carol new here Thanks! I went through the recipes, but still can't find something. Guest guest
Annie, baking powder, oh, no theres nothing wrong that, that I know of. It's just that someone a few years back give me a recipe like that and I haven't been able to find it anywhere. It was just so simple with very few items and they still looked and tasted like cookies. Which was neat. Carol H
Guest guest
Hi Carol, Maybe they used self-rising flour? I got a recipe from my mother once, after I was married, for my favorite praline cookies, only they turned out horrible - they were as flat as can be, and stuck to my cookie sheet, and were as crisp as a dried out leaf. I read the recipe that she had read off to me, and then she realized that she neglected to add the part about the flour being SELF-RISING, not plain flour. That explained everything. I tried the recipe again, using self-rising flour, and I got perfect cookies. Knowing my mother, I think she did that on purpose. She always has to be better than you at whatever you are doing. And it would please her to see me fail at the praline cookies. And when I called her about the list of ingredients, she couldn't believe she left out the part of it being self-rising flour. Yeah, right. Super dysfunctional family unit.
