Guest guest
I am craving crab rangoons (and I don't want to eat crab)! Had Chinese food with my family the other night and those crab rangoons smelled soooo good -- I managed to get by with my General Tso's tofu (so I now like tofu 2 ways - this way and in pad thai), but I have GOT to figure out how to make mock crab rangoons. I've figured out, for the meat foods I do crave, if I can figure out how to make it at home without meat or find a good veggie substitute I'm good. I tried the Worthington Skallops tonight, just rolled them in breadcrumbs and fried in peanut oil, and they were good. I need to get some shrimp cocktail sauce, I bet that would be great with them. I think I can use those, cut-up in little pieces, instead of crab. They're kind of the right texture. What kind of seaweed do I need to get to flavor them just right? I don't want them tasting like tuna (ick) but I want some kind of sea-flavor. Ideas? Thanks! Audrey
Guest guest
You can order mock shrimp online. Sea flavor comes from kelp powder. Get some from the Asian market Donna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
Online? So is does it come dried? I asked at my Whole Foods once, and they didn't carry it. I had thought it would be frozen like the soy crumbles or chick'n strips. At 05:13 PM 11/28/2009, Donna wrote: You can order mock shrimp online. Guest guest
I don't order it but it's vegan and I believe it comes packed on dry ice. Guest guest
Ah, now I remember the discussion we had on this some time back. It just means that the shipping costs will be fairly high.
