Guest guest
Hi,I saw a recipe for cashew cookies on a site recently(I do not remember which site),that called for rice flour-and I was wondering if throwing some brown rice in my vita-mix would work.Anyone have an opinion? Guest guest
Hi Rob - I buy my rice flour already ground up and it is a very very fine texture - almost a powder. I don't know anything about a vita-mix, and how it grinds, but if it can grind it very fine, I'm sure it would work. How much are those things, anyway? I keep hearing that they are pricey, but I also hear how much good you get out of them. I'm not opposed to spending money on something that I'll use a lot - do you use yours a lot? Guest guest
Hi, thanks for the replies-I will give it a shot.Annie-I bought a vita-mix 5000 about 4 years ago,it is about the same as the vita-mix 5200 that is selling now-They have made improvements to the lid I think. They are pricey,I paid $350,I think.I use mine every day.For smoothies,as a juicer,to knead bread dough,as a food processor-you name it.I love the thing!Oh,yeah-I can make soup in it too! They come with recipe books, and there is a great vita-mix group on as well(Not affiliated with the company) Thanks again for answering my question,I hope I answered yours. Guest guest
Hi Rob, Yes, you did answer my question - I figured they were pricey, but it is less than I thought they would be. So maybe that is a good birthday present for me, since it is too late to ask for that for Christmas. (We've already spent our Christmas budget) But my birthday is in February. I could kick myself for giving away a great juicer I bought (for about $350) to a friend, when I was " in a mood " 2 years ago, and had gone off my veggie diet, and had just given up on eating healthy, and I gained a whole bunch of weight, and felt so depressed about everything. I had wanted that juicer so badly, and was making great apple juice with it, and other fruit mixtures. Well, I have now gotten better, and am not depressed, and have gotten back on the veggie bandwagon, and have gone vegan now. I read labels like crazy when I am grocery shopping. I've also joined Weight Watchers and have lost about 50 pounds this year so far. I have another 50 to 70 pounds to lose to get to my ideal weight, and I love to make the Spirutein (I know I'm spelling that wrong) smoothie for lunch, along with a bunch of steamed vegetables with nutritional yeast sprinkled over them. Yummy! And 0 points for that, plus it gets my daily vegetables in. I'll check out the vita-mix group on . Thanks for that tip.
