I am on a nutrition quest with primary focus on fresh natural foods. (Info from

this list is obviously similar and useful.) My weakest link is snacks and

specifically sweet snacks. I do fine for a while with sweet apples and dates and

the like but then I just crave a big honkin hunk of granny's cobbler or a 2-lb

cookie or .... well you get the idea.

Thus the question: Is there a source or do any of you have ideas more

specifically aimed at reduced fat/sodium/calories while tasting outrageously

desert-like? (If there is such a dish it may be called simply " MiracleMix " .

<g>)

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Raymond, check out this blog: http://blog.fatfreevegan.com . You should

have no trouble finding something you like there :)

For me, oatmeal with lots of fruit, guzzied up like pie filling, works

pretty well most of the time . With enough fruit in it, I don't miss

the sugar. (Blueberries+lemon juice or apples+cinnamon+nutmeg+optional

strawberries or cranberries). Just mentioning this since you mentioned

cobbler :)

Hope this helps!

Peace,

Mo

When I get to craving that, I go for a Kashi bar called " raspberry dark

chocolate " , and it is only 2 points on Weight Watchers, so it is low in all the

things you want low, and high in all the things you want high - like fiber, etc.

And it is good!

hmmm that is a very interesting question. Anything you make with a little

vanilla added to it would be worthwhile also. :-)

Cindi,

This reminds me of being a kid and getting to make " snow ice-cream " , consisting

of a cup of snow over which a drizzle of vanilla and .... tadaa ... snow

ice-cream. Certainly meets my criteria for " reduced fat/sodium/calories while

tasting outrageously desert-like " .

Fortunately I'm short on snow but will keep the tip in mind.

Thanks for your response.
