Guest guest
There is so much that I could say. Two days ago we sat on the roof of Brindavanam with binoculars looking at the birdlife that sourrounds us. We do not have any bird books, so cannot identify any of them. A number were striking. There are parrots, bright lime-green, with orange beaks and long yellow tails. There are two binds with bright blue color, one with a blue back, black body and white wing spots. There is another, tanish brown, blue-green head and body, and when it flys, the most amazing blue under wing and tail colors. We saw a woorpecker working his way up a palm trunk, and many more. This morning we walked from our hose to Arunachala. We are on the SW side, which has a forest surrounding the hill. We wlked up to the tank where the Sadhu's bathe in the morning. T5he tree-planting that has been done in the last four years is a significant effort. Much much work has been done. In a few years this will be visable to all, with mature trees, and shade where there is none today. This seems like a great puja that is offered to the hill. Each morning starts with meditation with Arunachala. The day ends with another meditation, and reading from Ribhu Gita. Feel feel happy here, and very much like this is our home, home in Arunachala's embrace. Who could have more grace? Not two, Richard
Guest guest
Dear Richard, Greetings. India is blessed with a large variety of flora and fauna. Dr.Salim Ali is a renowned ornithologist and has written a book 'Indian Birds', which contains 200 colour plates. A young couple once used this book to teach their three year old girl and in no time she mastered the names of all the 200 birds. !! The following two web sites will be useful for you. First site contain galleries with photos and recordeD sounds of hundreds of Indian birds. The second site is more scientific managed by scientists. www.indianbirds.com www.indianbirds.in I will also humbly suggest that you plant some herbs in your garden like margosa (neem), Indian curry leaves, tulsi (basil) etc. Shri Ramana Maharishi had knowledge of herbal medicine. I am attaching a file which contains some of his recipes of herbal medicine. " Ramana Maharishi and Herbal Medicine " by Dr.Manickam in PDF format is attached.
