Guest guest
Today I got a good example of life here. I was talking to my son this morning. He was with friends, watching the US Superbowl. I have loved US football, used to play, etc. I have watched about every Superbowl that was played. Here this is not in the papers nor on TV. We do have a TV that was left my the owners of our house. We rarely watch it. But after I talked to my son, I turned it on to see if I could find the game. I could. The second half started and I saw powerful offense from New England and very good defense from New York. Looked like it was going to be a very good game. Then the power went out, and stayed out form the next three hours. No TV. No game to watch. The desire rose to watch, I watched, then could not. This was like a good example of desire. First there is the identification as an individual, then the is a thought for the individual (Maybe I can watch the game!), then came the desire, then teh desire turned into action. The action was thwarted. If the identification is strong, then there will be suffering. (For me there was no suffering, so maybe something has changed). Guest guest
Dear Richards, Greetings. Summer in Tamil Nadu is very hot. Sleeping at night without a fan will be very difficult. Also power breakdowns are more frequent in summer. For some thing like less than 200 Dollars you can get a reliable inverter. That will give you minimam a light, a fan TV and computer power supply. Guest guest
Dear Venugopal, Thank you for the advise on the inverter. WE have one that does not work. I will get someone to come in and fix it. Good idea. We are getting an air conditioner installed in the bedroom soon. Important to sleep comfortably. Guest guest
Dear Richard, Greetings. The inverters in India use 'Sealed Lead Acid' baterries, to bring down the cost to affordable levels. India being a tropical country, the life of these batteries are limited to around three years, provided proper care is taken of them. At least once a week, these batterries should be charged fully and also discharged for half an hour. This way prolonged life is ensured. If they are discharged to less than their 10% of their 100% capcity, they become permamnently damaged in that they cannot hold any charge for long time. Getting Photovolataic devices from the US is another alternative. You get bright sunlight for about 9 months a year. Zero maintenance and running charges is the attraction of this option. If you know all this, please excuse me. I tried to be helpful in my usual floundering way.
