Guest guest
Today and tonight are Mahasivaratri. We have started with new flowers for the lingam, and are keeping incense burning all day. Soon we will go to Tiruvannamalai to get things needed for tonight: bilva leaves, a coconut, malas and other puja items. I have made audio programs already for tonight, with 2 1/2 hours of selections from satsang with Nome, and hour of Arunachala chants, and a couple of hours of Siva chants (which I am downloading right now from http://www.yogausa.com/audio-chants-of-shiva-mp3.htm I know that much will be done at the local temples, like Arunachaleswara and Adi Anamalai. Other than going to Ramanasramam for a while and shopping for puja items, we will stay at our house, and mark the day in quiet meditation and chanting up on our roof with Arunachala and the Siva Lingam. Guest guest
From : http://www.hindujagruti.org/hinduism/knowledge/article/what-do-the-horizontal-st\ ripes-of-ash-on-forehead-of-lord-shiva-represent.html A. The word Shiva ( & #2358; & #2367; & #2357;) has been derived by reversing the letters of the word vash ( & #2357; & #2358; & #2381; & #8204;). Vash means to enlighten; thus the one who enlightens is Shiva. Shiva is absolute, self-radiant. He remains radiant and also illuminates the universe. --- Richard Clarke <richard wrote: > Today and tonight are Mahasivaratri. > > We have started with new flowers for the lingam, and > are keeping > insense burning all day. > > Soon we will go to Tiruvannamalai to get things > needed for tonight: > bilva leaves, a coconut, malas and other puja items. > > I have made audio programs already for tonight, with > 2 1/2 hours of > selections from satsang with Nome, and hour of > Arunachala chants, and > a couple of hours of Siva chants (which I am > downloading right now > from > http://www.yogausa.com/audio-chants-of-shiva-mp3.htm > > > I know that much will be done at the local temples, > like > Arunachaleswara and Adi Anamalai.
