Guest guest
Hi everyone, Since we all use to receive messages from this group, I thought I would let you know about a free service I found called Grouply. It is the best way I've discovered to access messages from all my . You can use this link to sign up: http://www.grouply.com/register.php?tmg=187144 . I am a member of so many groups that I found it very difficult to keep up with all of them. Grouply makes it easy. You can search and browse across all your groups at once and even view a cross-group event calendar. You can have one Smart Digest email (which I love) sent to you at the end of each day that summarizes what's going on across all your groups, highlighting what's interesting to you and hiding what's not. I've found Grouply to be a huge time-saver for me and I thought it would also be helpful for others. Enjoy! Venu

Guest guest
Dear Friends, Messages such as below are inappropriate for this list. Also about Grouply or any other service, which asks for your id and password, one should be very very cautious about giving that private information. Grouply is a new thing and I don't know much about it. We have to wait and see how it develops. As a general rule though, it is not a good idea to give out your id and password to any third party, especially if you use the same id and password to purchase products through . Any member considered to be spamming the list with grouply or any other commercial service will be removed. Sangha Members can certainly let us know about their personal interests and websites and commercial ventures. That is not a problem. But please do not advertsie on behalf of other commercial ventures. Long term members always have the freedom of discretion to let us know what they are doing and giving us links to their own websites or websites related to our interests. If you are in doubt, please write me. Guest guest
Dear Michael, I am very concerned with programs like grouply that ask for the sangha member's id and password. Once they have a list member's id and password, theoretically, nothing stops them from spamming the list or collecting information about other members through the member who has joined grouply. Nothing stops them from scanning messages of even of even a private group without the member who has joined knowing anything about it. I am seriously considering removing all grouply members from the list, or at least putting them on moderation. The feedback of sangha members is appreciated on this matter. Guest guest
Dear HJarsha, Actually the below message is written by Grouply. I have joined this group as i think this is an advancement in technology and useful to the members of groups, in reducing the time spent on internet. With humility let me tell you that i have spend 39 years of my working life in Laboratories doing advanced and sophisticated science and as such do posess a working knowledge of technology. I can recognise a good thing in technology when i see one. All the are working because of the genorosity of , who has kindly provided their technology and infrastructure. They never thought whether members will misuse such a facility and try to promote their own parochial narrow minded interests ! And to suspect every body's motive is defenitely not in the great tradition of Sages like Ramana Maharishi. You may know this that all sages of India worked on the principle of " Loka Samastho Sukhino Bhavanthu " . And every other day you post a notice of copy right. Silly of you. As such i have no problem in unsubscribing from this group. I will be doing it in one or two days time. Guest guest
Dear Harsha, A search on this string grouply adware " identity theft " results in several hits, from one, http://www.myviewin.com/blogs.php?action=show_member_blog & ownerID=202 & category=1\ 38 this quote: ----- IDENTIFY THEFT AT GROUPLY.COM There is a message going out to different advertising and suggesting that you join a new group called GROUPLY. This group claims to help manage all your and you will get a summary, at the end of the day, telling you what is going on in all your groups. IF YOU JOIN THIS GROUP, they use your ID and password to post " mass mailings " (can be junk, can be porno) and send them to anyone, and since it's YOUR ID they are using, others will think it is coming from you. For instance, you could get an email CLAIMING that it came from " emagic2 " and it really is not from this group. I could get an email, with this mass mailing, claiming it came from me, and it wouldn't have been from me. Again, IF YOU HAVE JOINED THIS GROUP called " GROUPLY " IMMEDIATELY leave Grouply. Then go into your account at: _http://groups. _ (http://groups. /) /mygroups and change your password. Some groups have posted that this will help. Unsubbing from that group won't make a difference (but I think you will want to) so change your Password. By joining this group you have also exposed all your groups, group members and group leaders to hacking of their emails and group information. Because of this problem, all members with a email grouply.com are being removed from the affected groups. This is the only way to protect all the members. This is how Identity theft gets going. They now have your real email, your emails, any emails listed in your and can mail as you in and out of the groups. I hope you understand what is happening and will take precautions to protect your ID. ----- Of course it could have been obvious that no service is free, advertising pays for it and collecting data for advertising developed into an art. Peace, Jan harshaimtm wrote: > Dear Friends, > > Messages such as below are inappropriate for this list. Guest guest
Dear Jan, Thank you for sharing that. We will wait and see how this grouply thing develops. Meanwhile, good commonsense would suggest that we should not hand over our id and passwords to a third party. Potentially, this information could be misused. The need for some caution is obvious.
