The photo was from my 64th birthday, and the dhoti was Carol's present to me. Now she is starting to wear saris. this means learning how to put them on, and how to manage the pleats correctly, etc. She noticed that mainly young women wear the 'salwar suits' and thought the sari more appropriate. There are times where we go to village ceremonies, like the funeral of the mother of a local friend. IN these, the people are so happy that a western woman sould come and wear a sari.
