Guest guest
Dear Friends, I propose posting a more or less daily ROUNDEL based on the teachings of the late Robert Adams, whom I visited in Sedona USA, for several weeks before his death. He was a Jnani, in my opinion , based on the palpable peace and love, (as well his teaching solely based on his Master Ramana Maharshi with whom he stayed from 1947-50), that I, and his studnts, felt in his presence. For those who wish to know more, about this remarkable man, google the Infinity Institute Website, run by his widow Nicole. But first what is a Roundel? It is an old Provencal form. Algernon Swinburne describes what it is in Roundel form. ROUNDEL A ROUNDEL is wrought as a ring or a starbright sphere, With craft of delight and with cunning sound unsought, That the heart of the hearer may smile if to pleasure his ear A roundel is wrought. Its jewel of music is carven of all or aught -- Love, laughter or mourning -- rememberance of rapture or fear -- That fancy may fashion to hang in the ear of thought. As a bird's quick song runs round, and the hearts in us hear -- Pause answers to pause, and again the same strain caught, So moves the device whence, round as a pearl or tear, A roundel is wrought. (Swinburne composed a Collection of a hundred Roundels. Here is my first attempt. ROAR FROM THE ROOF TOPS ALL is very well! to unfold exactly as it should, Let it roar from the roof tops, all bold seekers tell, That power which knows the way is truly good, All is very well! To rouse the sleeper from his dream -- ring the bell Of Truth; All IS ONE, non-dual! for aeons stood This beacon lamp to light our gloomy shaded dell. As green willows grow sweetly in silent woods, Foolish fear ends. Firm faith tolls the death knell Of ignorance, for all to wake, who wish they could. All is very well! Alan Jacobs P.S. " All is very well, unfolding as it should, trust that great power which knows the way " , was a maxim of Robert's which he often repeated at his memorable satsangs. Guest guest
Dear Alan and others: One of the sangha members wrote about her visit to Robert on the original HS website. /Kheyala.htm In the summer, I will try to move the whole original HS website () to the blog. So I will move the articles like that to the blog so they are easy to find. Because I am not an expert, I will get a professional company to redesign and integrate the site with the blog. The advantage with a blog site is that people can upload articles on their own without my help. Richard has been doing a great job with that. He learned the basics of wordpress on his own by experimenting. It is an easy system. Alan, possibly Richard can help you get started as well. Thank you all for your presence. Being with Bhagavan's devotees is of much comfort. Apparently there is some points of conflict with these two sites... one claiming authenticity over the other and viceversa (seems a little bit strange...) Anyhow, I must say that the one presented by Ed Muzika seems to relate more to Bhagavan's " thread " ... the other one looks like a subtle " christian oriented " website. Since you were with Mr Adams at the end of his life, maybe you can enlighten us a little bit about this discrepancy, from your experience with him. Guest guest
Dear Mouna, Ed Muzika was a pupil of Robert Adams . I never met him, and I could not say whether he was Self Realised or not. He started to teach after his death, but without permission from Nicole Adams, Robert's widow, who has all his material, and is therefore best able to conduct the continuance of his teaching. I do not know the details of any disagreements between the two, and I am sure there is worthy material on both sites. Some of Robert's own dialogues are on Nicole's site too. Robert's book the SILENCE OF THE HEART , part one, is the best guide to his teaching, available on Nicole's site. His great gift was to give talks in ordinary simple everyday language which are very accssessible. Trust this helps. All best wishes and warm regards, Alan > Alan Jacobs <alanadamsjacobs wrote: > > > > > I propose posting a more or less > daily ROUNDEL based on the teachings of the late Robert Adams, whom I > visited > in Sedona USA, for several weeks > > before his death. Guest guest
Dear Alan: Thank you for your response. After asking you the question, I went both to Nicole Adams website and Ed Muzika website and did a little reading and research. I was surprised that in the Infinity Institute website (Nicole Adams' website) there is not a SINGLE reference to Bhagavan, in fact, the feeling is that we even TRY TO AVOID speaking about him, the references given are that Mr Adams was interested in Eastern philosophies!!! (I can understand that in a christian dvaitic content, the idea of advaita is not very welcome!) On the contrary, Ed Muzika's website is almost fully based on an Advaita point of view as Bhagavan Ramana and WE understand it, including Mr Adams. I know these points go beyond what was intended in your original posting, but I couldn't help speaking about what seems to be a a strange situation that creates a disservice to the writings of someone like Mr Adams (even if he's a jnani or not) and the general advaita seeking community. Warm Regards and All the best, Yours in Bhagavan, Mouna Alan Jacobs <alanadamsjacobs wrote: > > Dear Mouna, > > Ed Muzika was a pupil of Robert Adams . Guest guest
Dear Mouna, Thank you for pointing all this out. I do not question your judgement, and have not visited Ed's site. So whatever is going on is very strange, and difficult to fathom. However, if one reads Robert Adams's original texts i.e.transcripts of his satsangs, and also his book Silence of the Heart ( 2 vols.) one can be in no doubt about his authenticity, inspite of what 'goings on' maybe happening on the Infinity Institute web site today. That's all I can say in the matter, as it was some years ago I was in Sedona. Warm regards and best wishes, Alan --- upadesa <maunna wrote: > Dear Alan: > > Thank you for your response. > After asking you the question, I went both to Nicole Adams website and > Ed Muzika website and did a little reading and research. > I was surprised that in the Infinity Institute website (Nicole Adams' > website) there is not a SINGLE reference to Bhagavan, in fact, the > feeling is that we even TRY TO AVOID speaking about him, the > references given are that Mr Adams was interested in Eastern > philosophies!!!
