Guest guest
Hello I am new to this forum, so my warmest greetings to you all. I have a question about the enquiry I am making of Who am I? This is that recently, there are many quite vivid images and some sounds arising in this practice. Is this normal and does it mean anything in particular? Also, I am chronically ill, so there is quite a lot of mental and physical tiredness, but I find the practice makes me more tired and often sleepy, especially when there are many seconds of silence and stillness after the question and it feels like it is going deeper but the thoughts start again when it feels like I am about to fall asleep. I don't think my ailments explain this fully, but some other barrier? My gratitude and thanks for any advice or suggestions. Peace and love Raph

Sometimes a vision can be an Omen which points to a particular choice or choice of action that is healthy, but generally they are something to not be attached to. Enjoy them and set them free. > Also, I am chronically ill, so there is quite a lot of mental and > physical tiredness, but I find the practice makes me more tired and > often sleepy, especially when there are many seconds of silence and > stillness after the question and it feels like it is going deeper > but the thoughts start again when it feels like I am about to fall > asleep. The cause for it (speaking for myself) is that it is an automatic (sub-conscious) protective mechanism of ego. Resistance. Ego really doesn't want to go into awareness because it fears annihilation. One way to help with drowsiness during meditation that works well for me is to sit upright with eyes open in a well lit room. Even better is outside on a sunny day in nature. Running streams are your friend. Blessings
Guest guest
Hi David Many thanks. Actually I find the images an attempt at distraction and so put no store on them at all really nor follow them either, just refocus on the question each time. Though I do wonder when I am out of meditation why they arise. Must be various mental clutter and projection. Yes, also about the ego protection mechanism, thought it might be this, but was not sure. Must just be a barrier that needs to be persevered through. Thanks too for the tips, they should be helpful. Inquiry also is supposed to move the barrier between " conscious " and " subconscious " so from that view, sounds and visions can be interpreted as auspicious signs - but they're no more than roadsigns and supposed to be left behind, as a figure of speech. Because a busy mind can hinder the finer senses for wellbeing, inquiry and meditation *seemingly* cause tiredness and sleepiness whereas such feelings automatically surface when turmoil subsides. The best advice would be a clean body (sattvic food issue), as that results in the absence of tiredness, sleepiness and restlessness. Guest guest
Hi Jan Many thanks for that advice, I'll start eating more sattwic foods and less of the other types.
