The Self is always purging it Self of that which is foreign to itself -

everybody is interested in self-actualization, and (knowingly or un-

knowing) this is always in the direction of de-falsification.

Nisargadatta Maharaj stated in I Am That - " all desires, holy and

unholy, come from the Self " .

The person constitutes a restriction/limitation on the Self, and is in

a constant state of creation, preservation and destruction. The Self

is always Actual, the person non-actual and restrictive on the freedom

of Self.

Thus, self-enquiry continues " after " awakening as well - only it is not

confined to a 'person' but is the nature of the Self it self.

Dear Tim,

I valued this posting because it seems to accord with Ramana's dictum that

'the vasanas have to come out , in order to be destroyed.'

THanks and best wishes,

Alan

For what it's worth, Nisargadatta noted as well that " occasionally an

old reaction arises, but it immediately gets discarded " . I don't

look at awakening as some sort of ending, but more like a beginning -

it is the start of a new life.

I think continual looking is important, although we can't all do self-

enquiry all the time. But I'm a very strong proponent of self-

enquiry and think everybody can make some time for it, even if it

takes a few sacrifices in terms of work hours, etc.

Peace,

Tim

I'm saying only that it's actually the Self that desires, if in fact

there are desires. My friend, there is nothing but the Self. Don't

push away desire - look at it, look into it, enquire.

The Self knows only it Self - what else to inquire? ;-). I'm not a

block of wood, after all. Buying groceries only takes up so much time,

why not have fun looking into the mechanism(s) of falsehood?
