Guest guest
Dear Friends When I was aged 24 years, the SadGuru Gurudav -Padmanabha Nenon, the son of the late SadGuru Krishnamenon otherwise known as Atmananda, who was contemporary to Ramana- was visiting Cairo. I managed to have a private interview with him. I had two questions that bothered me, and I asked Gurudave these questions and His Grace answered them for me simply and plainly. I will post the questions as well as the answers. First Question: Q: It was said that sleep might change its character and NirviKalpa Samadhi is experienced; Why It did not happen to me? Gurudave: Your emphasis was not on seeing Samadhi, still on the sleep and the dream, a shift of emphasis has to happen. Second Question: Q: It was said that Reality or Truth appears in the interval between thoughts. So how can I prolong this interval so that I can experience Reality? Gurudave: It is not a matter of prolonging, it is a seeing of what is there between thoughts. You have to see the nature of experience between mentations, the nature of life experiences between mentations and accordingly you change your prespective.Mentations makes you see the experience according to your previous understanding. A knew prespective has to be cultivated to replace the old understanding based on the Seeing that occurs between mentations. You should never doubt what you experience between mentations, this is my counsel to you. ++++++++++++++++++++ I met Sri Gurudave -in Cairo- a couple of times later; and we never discussed this point again. mourad
