Guest guest
JOURNEY If a tree could travel by leg or fly, It wouldn’t suffer pain of axe or saw; If the Sun didn’t race by wing and foot How would the world be lit up at dawn ? If salt water didn’t rise from sea to sky Gardens wouldn’t be refreshed by rain, Nor streams caused to teem and flood. When a drop left its cloud and returned It found a shell and became a pearl. Didn’t Joseph meet his father full of woe? Yet came to fortune, triumph and victory? Didn’t Mohammed ride towards Medina Gaining kingship and conquered many lands? Although you haven’t golden feet, choose To travel inward deeply into your own Self. As the ruby takes on the glow of sunbeams, Make the voyage from self to Self, my friend. For such a trip, Earth becomes a goldmine, From sour bitterness move onto sweetness. Just as from poor ground sweetfruit will grow. From his Sun, the Lion of Tabriz, watched these miracles, Every aspirant gains beauty from his radiant light.
