Guest guest
My intellectual discrimination tells me that the vital next step, is a massive emotional shift of interest and attention from 'out there', the non-self and the illusory world, to 'in here', the Self of Pure Consciounsess Awareness, God, The Great Power, Love etc. Only persistent enquiry into the source of the non-self, or surrender of my petty non-self to the Greater Self is going to succeed, with the aid of Grace, naturally. Love to all, Alan

Dear Friends and Alan, It sounds like a wonderful " invocation " for today's celebration of The Guru (Guru Poornima). I bow to the Guru we share, the one with a form (no matter which) and the one Formless that resides in our Heart. As we all know, they are Not-Two. Love to All in this Happy Day, Mouna

Guest guest
Alan, This seems just right. Sri Ramana said that there is either atma vichara or loca vichara, we either are seeking reality within or in the changing objective world. To look within is wisdom. Nome, when a person talks to him about this might suggest that right now clarity as to the source of happiness is important. As long as one imagines that happiness is to be found in anyting objecgtive, no matter how subtle, then that attachment and the related vasana-s will remain. To me, from the framework of Sankaras Four Qualification for Advaita, the first is viveka or discrimination (into what is permanent and what is changing, into the Real and the unreal). You now see what is within and what is objective. Now you naturally move towards VAIRAGYA (dispassion, detachment). Nome suggests that DEtachment will not come until ATtachment - due to confusion as the the source of happinessis resolved in inquiry). Key to all, it is said, is mumuksutva, desire for liberation. When this is intense, the others will naturally follow. Guest guest
Dear Richard , Thank you for giving us Nome's view on this, which I fully agree with, and are in my view, perfectly in concord with Bhagavan. Of course Shankara is arguably the greatest teacher of Advaita Vedanta, without parallel in the history of world religions. Bhagavan agreed that his teachings equate with Shankara, and translated some of his key works from the Sanskrit into Tamil. See Collected Works. All best wishes, Arunachala Om, Alan --- On Fri, 18/7/08, Richard Clarke <richard wrote: Richard Clarke <richard Re: The next step Friday, 18 July, 2008, 1:46 AM Alan, This seems just right.
