Guest guest
I would like to bring some words on teachers. The way they are described seems often to be based on the assumption they behave like individuals in a commercial setting. From knowing my teacher 36 years I thought I knew her. She had one way of appearing towards family and friends and another when teaching. So I thought through this I did know what she was capable of. The last years I became aware of an atmosphere appearing to begin far away from her house. I did at the time believe this was due to myself changing because it was not possible to visit without being mentally quite awake. Then from the last visits I would come to discover how massive this atmosphere was, pure and shining, like a clear sky. It is something different just thinking about it. And four of the about ten visits was something else completely. What I thought was a person with a sophistication hard to reach appeared to be beyond this. I have a reason to believe nobody really knew. Like her teacher she had only a few pupils. As he too did not have any groups or gatherings she told me she asked him how many pupils were sincere, and he said 'There is an old gentleman and a lady'. Guest guest
Dear Alan, I quite agree that it is a mistake to evaluate teachers as we would those in ordinary walks of life. The real Jnani is unmistakably recognised as the Maharshi pointed out by feeling palpable peace, love and silence indubitably experienced in his or her presence. This 'instant recognition' is the real criteria. Once one recognise a Jnani, he said it was wrong for the ajnani to make critical judgements about their actions. From another Alan with respect and regards. --- On Thu, 31/7/08, alan <alan wrote: alan <alan Some words on teachers Thursday, 31 July, 2008, 1:26 AM I would like to bring some words on teachers.
