Guest guest
From the Song Celestial V.10 X111:33 Bhagavan's Selection " Just as the all pervading ether, being subtle, is not affected, tainted or contaminated by anything, even so, the Self pervading the body is also not tainted. " Comment: We continue to be taught the nature of the Self. The Ether, derived from the word 'ethereal' is a divine confluence. It is in the Heart , where the Self is indicated to dwell, although the Self is really without location, being formless and all pervading, and nothing external or worldly from the mind, can therefore affect it. Please note: This study group is posted for all members to share. Please ask questions which other members may answer, if there is any point you do not understand, or wish to elaborate on. This is the largest Ramana Group on the web with over 1100 memebers and has been in existence for nearly ten years thanks to Harshaji, but very few actually post. Why is that? " Dear Alan and Friends, This verse exemplifies what for me is one of the most practical tools in my daily and moment to moment sadhana. Another aspect of Self-Enquiry. At the level of the gross body, whenever an identification pulls us towards ANY external object, we may try to " feel " that in fact we are the " space " surrounding it. Physical space is not touched, tainted, damaged, burnt or made wet by any object, a similar analogy as the blank screen of a film. At the level of the subtle body we can apply it also whenever any subtle object (thought or emotion) pulls towards it with their magnetic force; we may try to " perceive " the psychological space wherefrom it originates that surrounds and give birth to that object. At these levels, there is still duality, since there is a witness, but if we are strong enough, it will disengage from the identification. Going further in the enquiry, the witness also dissolves, since eventually it is also all-pervading, pervading not only the space, but the objects as well... Once again, I strongly believe that Bhagavan, pointing to certain specific verses of the Gita, is giving us practical tools to think about, meditate upon and work with, than just philosophical concepts to read lightly. Guest guest
Dear Mouna, Thank you so much. This is a fine example of the elaboration necessary to reveal the full meaning of the verse, and the way our study group can develop, and point out meanings for ouselves and others.I am sure you are correct in saying that Bhagavan chose these verses as practical tools to work with, rather than metaphysical concepts only. All best wishes and warm regards, in His Grace, Alan --- On Thu, 4/9/08, upadesa <maunna wrote: upadesa <maunna Re: GITA STUDY 9 Date: Thursday, 4 September, 2008, 3:05 PM Alan Jacobs <alanadamsjacobs@ ...> wrote:> V.10 X111:33 Bhagavan's Selection> > "Just as the all pervading ether, being subtle, is not affected, tainted or contaminated by anything, even so, the Self pervading thebody is also not tainted."Dear Alan and Friends,This verse exemplifies what for me is one of the most practical toolsin my daily and moment to moment sadhana. Guest guest
Dear Sanotshan, A very warm welcome to the Study Group and the Site. Always feel free to ask questions and we welcome any comment. There is an absence of 'mind-talk' at the moment, but it pops up occaisionally. It is a liberal site, Harshaji has arranged that over the ten years the site has been in existence. Now it is the largest Ramana Maharshi Group on the web and members are free to express themselves, by postings, poetry, art, questions and comments. All best wishes and regards, Alan Moderator--- On Wed, 10/9/08, born010405 <born010405 wrote: born010405 <born010405 Re: GITA STUDY 9 Date: Wednesday, 10 September, 2008, 4:42 PM , Alan Jacobs <alanadamsjacobs@ ...> wrote:>> From the Song Celestial> > V.10 X111:33 Bhagavan's Selection> > "Just as the all pervading ether, being subtle, is not affected, tainted or contaminated by anything, even so, the Self pervading the body is also not tainted."> > Comment: We continue to be taught the nature of the Self.
