GITA STUDY 18 Ch IV V 39 Ramana's Selection

" One who has faith and concentration and has subdued his senses attains

knowledge. Having gained knowledge he speedily attains Supreme Peace. "

Comment:Sri Bhagavan follows up V. 17 on Faith with adding the need for power of

concentration, essential for successful Self Enquiry. We can improve our

concentration by looking steadily at his portrait for as long as we can, or at a

lit candle etc.

Then if we subdue the senses which constantly distract us, again by Self

Enquiry, and withdrawing them from excessive identification, then we are ready

to meditation, keeping 'still', etc.we can attain the Self Knowledge of Jnana.

Then having gained Jnana we will quickly enjoy the bliss of Supreme Peace.

Dear Ram,

I believe the Sankskrit word is Sraddha. Perhaps someone else knows The Tamil.

All regards,
