Guest guest
I do not usually make these kind of requests, but I feel a need to do so now. I am trying to help my rickshaw driver, Rajan. He is an Indian man with a family and two children aged 7 and 8. He is a bright man, who had to leave school at 11 years of age and work to support his mother and brother, so never completed school. He now is a rickshaw driver, and committed to providing his children the education he never got. This is the main expense for the family. He treats my wife and I as a part of his family, and has made our life in India so much easier than it would have been otherwise, and has exposed to us Indian life in a way that many westerners do now see. We see his situation and want to help. His grandfather was in Tiruvannamalai when Sri Ramana lived, and would go to see him, He ran the chai stand nearest to Ramanasramam. Rajan has deep respect for Ramana. As he looks at other swamis and spiritual teachers in the area, he views them from what he knows of Ramana. Most fall far short. The whole family lives in one 7 by 9 feet rented room. It is possible to buy nearby land where he can build a small house for his family. With donations I have made and gotten from others we have almost all the money raised that is needed, We have raised Rs 3.5 lacks. We need Rs 50,000 more. If anyone can help with this, or has any ideas about what we might be able to do, please let me know at richard. He is a good man. I am trying to help open doors that were closed to him by the death of his father when he was young. Thanks for thinking about this.
