Guest guest
Song Celestial-Gita Study 41 C 18 V 61 " The lord resides in the hearts of all, O Arjuna, revolving all creatures by prakriti as if mounted on a machine. " This is the last but one verses in the Song Celestial and Bhagavan sums up his message with 2 verses (the last verse is tomorrow)from the magnificent Chapter 18 at the close of the Gita. Comment: God or the Self lives in the Heart. We, as the reader are in place of Arjuna addressed by Bhagavan-Krishna. All creature are caught up in the dream of samsara and whirled about by prakritti (the primordial substance out of which all things are created; the primal nature) as if mounted on a mechanical device or whirligig. Some translators describe this situation like being a puppet doll mounted on a machine. The Puppet ego is whirled about according to his or her preordained destiny. But Grace having brought one to this teaching one can escape from the continual cycle of birth and rebirth by practicing Self Enquiry and Devotion (Surrender), then with eventual Self Realisation one is liberated and the dream is over. " Dear Alan and Friends, The word Prakriti can also be translated as Maya (and viceversa), the Power that enables Ishvara/God/the Lord to become many and project the apparent Universe. In fact, the word used in the original sanskrit of this verse is " mayaya " . Brahman being All-Pervading, Unchanged and Non-dual, the only way to understand movement, time and space is by recognizing this illusory Power in action, which projects the apparent universe we seem to perceive. At the core of our Ignorance resides Maya. Yours in Bhagavan, Mouna
Guest guest
Dear Mouna, Thank you for enlarging the definition of this key word. I used the definition given in the glossary of Ramana Maharshi's Collected Works published by the Ashram. It seems somewhat limited. All regards, Alan , " upadesa " <maunna wrote: > > Alan Jacobs <alanadamsjacobs@> wrote: > > > > Song Celestial-Gita Study 41 > > C 18 V 61 > > " The lord resides in the hearts of all, O Arjuna, revolving all > creatures by prakriti as if mounted on a machine.
