Dar ÓmaI create silenceswherever I goin silence You come to meI close my eyes and earsto worldsmy lipsif people ask for directionsI point to the gibbous moonwhen asked how I amI smile the cusp of an eclipseshould someone ask the timethey’ll see in my eyesit is Dar Óma timeto prayand to praiseall of creationis getting in the moodinsects flit silentlymovementbut no rustle from treesI cannot hear my heartbeatin a distant landYou move noiselesslysunlight briefly strokes the haggard face of a mountaina hare cocks his earsYou listen

Hi Alan -I figured I'd round out the week with another contemporary voice, the Irish poet Gabriel Rosenstock. Gabriel Rosenstock is the author/translator of over 100 books, including 12 volumes of poetry in Irish and a number of volumes of bilingual haiku.The selections form Uttering Her Name are addressed to Dar Óma, a Celtic goddess, daughter of OGHMA who gave the gift of writing to the Celts. The communication to Dar Óma at times seems addressed to an impersonal God(dess) and, at others, to someone immediate, felt, touched. Gabriel Rosenstock describes the work as neo-bhakti and, indeed, it has a strong feel of some of the great bhakti poetry, like that of Mirabai.---I keep rereading that opening phrase...I create silenceswherever I goThis poem evokes for me twilight, that magical stillpoint between day and night. Movement and

life flows, but the world is somehow still beneath the quietly flowing surface. The Goddess moves through creation, noiselessly. With Her, we all become silent witnesses.they’ll see in my eyesit is Dar Óma timeIvanPS - Quite a full moon, wasn't it? She may have left us with some bruises, but she was beautiful in her passing...
