Guest guest
Dear Soul, Here's another edition of Ashtavakra. I like this as it has a good introductory essay, the sanskrit and roman script of each verse, a glossarial index, and helpful annotations for most verses by the translator. Astavakra Gita: Song of the Self Supreme (Hardcover) by Radhakamal Mukerjee (Translator) Publisher: Motilal Banarsidass of Dehli The price on mine is 225 rupees, if bought in India. It's available on Amazon. Guest guest
Dear Peter, Thank you very much for the info. You mentioned in another post that you practice psychotherapy(did I read it correctly and was it your post?)... I'm very interested in this as i'm studying counselling/psychotherapy at the moment. Do you have a website ? Blessings in This, Soul , " Peter " <not_2 wrote: > > Dear Soul, > > Here's another edition of Ashtavakra. Guest guest
Dear Soul, Yes, I did mention it. I only did so in reference to the term " the ego " - namely that both personally and professionally I don't find this term to be particularly useful, especially as it is normally so laden with negativity. I don't have a website. Hopefully your study of counselling and psychotherapy includes the spiritual dimension. When you feel you have the time and inclination, I'd be interested to hear how you include your understanding of Ramana's teachings in that study. I wish you well in your study and endeavors. Guest guest
Dear Peter, and Michael too(who is also involved in this field)and all... I also prefer not to use the term " ego " , and also see how it is used with negativity, or even judgement, or even simply the fact that it has differnet meanings. Finding out what one means when using certain terms, such as ego, and then seeing if we share the meaning seems to be important in communication. Probably the modules in the course i'm studying which come the closest to spirituality, are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Person/Client Centered Therapy. How to include Ramanas teachings, or the truth of who we are (and are not)...Hmmm... I guess if there is a sensing , in the moment, that a person is thirsty for truth, then it will come about in the conversation. After all, who we truly are is here for all, even if one thinks otherwise, or identifies with the body/mind as who one is...the substatum, the screen upon which all phenomena appear and disappear, is here, and the same for all.
