Guest guest
Alan, there is an interesting article at http://spiritlibrary.com/conversations-with-god/enlightenment-and-how-to-achieve-it. I think it is profound in that it helps me understand that there really are many paths. We each will decide which one will work for us. I think all religions are motivated by the human need to know God, and they all have the same principles, but different ways of looking at them. k - Alan Jacobs Friday, January 16, 2009 6:57 PM From Padamalai by Muruganar-Recorded Utterances of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi From Padamalai P.203 V 15Self-EnquiryPadam [the lotus feet of the immortal formlessness behind the form of Bhagavan, in the Heart] declares : 'To enquire and know oneself properly, nothing except the consciousness 'I am' is necessary'. Guest guest
Dear Karla, Thank you for pointing this out. As you say all religions are motivated by the desire to know God and there are indeed very many paths. Put in a nut shell, it is a matter of destiny which of these paths you will probably choose. After careful consideration a decision may eventually be made on which path to follow. This Site is dedicated to Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi's Direct Path to Self Realisation. It may be some seekers inclination to follow that path , and others to follow another path. That is how it will happen. Whch ever path you decide to choose we can only wish you well, All best wishes, Love and Light, Alan --- On Sat, 17/1/09, karla <docdanes wrote: karla <docdanesRe: From Padamalai by Muruganar-Recorded Utterances of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi Date: Saturday, 17 January, 2009, 3:20 PM Alan, there is an interesting article at http://spiritlibrar y.com/conversati ons-with- god/enlightenmen t-and-how- to-achieve- it. Namaste, Religion comes from the latin re ligio or bind back. The origin of present day religions goes back to maybe a couple of thousand years ago or more. They originally were a way of programming and teaching people of whence they came so to speak. However now they are just a way of manipulating people's devotion for egotistic ends. Spirituality is another thing altogether, which in some ways is connected with its base level of superstitions. Which essentially revolve around worshipping spirits and Devas/Angels etc..At least this shows the connection between the subtle and material worlds. Trying to understand a Personal God who can't help them anyway is beyond them at this stage, but at least they know that subtle beings can influence. Just about all Devotees are really aspiring devotees as a real devotess is a realised human. All of these beliefs and superstition belong to the illusion called 'Mind'. and really are only about achieving ekagratha or one- pointedness....all else is just confusion of mind.........Cheers Tony
